  ZASCHO PETKOW
THE JOURNEY OF PRESERVED TEXTILES
TISCH table | BLUMENAMPEL plant hanger
by Zascho Petkow

Zascho Petkow combines traditional textiles and a unique way of surface-treatment to create one-of-a-kind tabletops he calls „tischplatte mit textil“.

A found piece of traditional woven bhutanese textile is conserved underneath 20 layers of pigmented lacquer. Each coating is applied in a specific way and consistence. Together they combine to a shiny, half-transparent surface. Under the influence of light the varnish reveals the colour and texture of the fabric within. Tiny reflecting pigments floating in the thick coating of lacquer become visible.

In collaboration with Atelier Haußmann, Birgit Severin and Zascho Petkow show the „blumenampel“ & „ashes“ series. The independently developed projects combine to present flowers.
