THE JOURNEY OF TIME & MATERIAL
VANITAS vase
by Birgit Severin & Guillaume Neu Rinaudo

Birgit Severin and Guillaume Neu-Rinaudo met during their studies at Design Academy Eindhoven, the pair now share a studio space in Berlin.

Both designers have an experimental approach to design and see storytelling through objects as an essential part of their work.

“VANITAS” is the new rubber vase series of Birgit Severin. Flowers are symbol of beauty and youth. Simultaneously in their decay they become reminders of life‘s brevity and the inevitability of death. Trying to capture the beauty of each stage of life, Birgit created vases inspired by the form and colors of withering flowers. Their production process utilises 3D printing, rubber rotation casting and freehand modelling to produce a flowing, matte surface overlayed with a sparkling pattern of jewel-like dots.
